2015 European Championship U19

This year, 8 National Federations were lucky to represent the U19 National teams for the European Championship. Players from Norway, Great Britain, France, Russia, Netherlands, Italy, Germany and Switzerland took part in a cheerful walk along the field in their national jerseys with their national flags, in front of the crowded stands. Everyone was hoping to win the Trophy and medal for the 1st place; everyone was striving to become the U19 European Champion this year; everyone was counting on their experience and luck!

However … This is Russia’s second title in the competition, following their gold medal performance in the 2011 competition. This was another fabulous success for Dmitry Berdnikov, his youngest son Alexei and the team who played so well. The celebrations on the final buzzer showed how much it meant.

Norway were also vying for their second title after topping the charts in 2013, but had to be content with silver. Perhaps they did not perform their best? They could have been more aggressive and believed more that they could do it. The victory was within their possibilities with the score 1:3 but they unfortunately could not make it happen.

Great Britain ended their campaign with a 4-1 win over Netherlands in the bronze medal match, to secure their fourth podium finish since the U19  European Championship was established in 2011.

Hosts France finished the 2015 European Championship U19 with a flourish to deliver a 4-0 victory over Germany and secure fifth place at the tournament.

Italy finished seventh on their first-ever U19 Championship by beating Switzerland 4:1 in the Last Places games.

The Championships was another success. This was a special tournament and an unique opportunity for growth for all the National teams. The future stars of European Paintball participated in this Championship.

We would like to congratulate all the participants, the National Teams and all the National Federations that were involved in the organization. Thanks must go to the Euroref guys for all their hard work, and those who helped to produce the very best paintball atmospheres – the spectators!
